Chateau Petrus by the Glass? Only $580 per 150 ml serving. Cunard to Offer the Most Optimum Wines on the Seas – and By the Glass!
While the offering of expensive wines on luxury cruise lines is par for the course, Cunard’s offering of the world’s finest wines by the glass is exciting news for those who were previously unwilling to spend thousands of dollars for a wine they’d never tasted.
Cunard will be offering this by-the-glass feature on their flagship, the Queen Mary 2.
If you’ve ever wanted to experience some of the world’s priciest wines, here are some examples of what you’ll be able to enjoy on the QM2:
Chateau Petrus $2,750/bottle $580 per 150 ml serving
Chateau Lafite-Rothschild $950/bottle $105 per 75 ml serving; $199.50 per 150 ml
California Screaming Eagle $4,500/bottle $495 for 75 ml serving; $945 for 150 ml
Château Mouton-Rothschild $775/bottle $85 per 75 ml serving; $162.75 per 150 ml
In order to serve exceptional wines by the glass without compromising their quality, Cunard is introducing the new Coravin wine pouring system that uses a needle to extract the desired quantity of wine from a bottle without removing the cork.
For discerning oenophiles desiring an alternative to high-end Bordeaux or other wines, an unusual collection of vintage port wines will also be featured in the QM2’s extraordinary wine cellar. Cunard will offer 46 vintage ports, each produced in a key year of Cunard’s 176-year history, as part of a specially commissioned permanent display in the vessel’s new Carinthia Lounge.
So, stay tuned – these new QM2 features will be available followed the completion of the vessel’s refit, scheduled for June 21, 2016.
