Crystal Cruises offers “Late-Risers Adventures”
The early bird gets the worm, but not every traveler is so excited about the “early” part of this adage. Many people want to take their time on vacation, move at a leisurely pace, and take the opportunity to sleep in.
For this group, Crystal Cruises offers “Late Risers Adventures”, shore excursions that begin around 11am or noon, following a Late Risers breakfast, which is served from 10-11:30 on the Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony. These later excursions will begin on the Crystal Serenity’s September 19 Boston-Québec sailing, and on Crystal Symphony’s September 27 Hamburg-Lisbon sailing.
Here are some examples, provided by the line, that tells travelers to expect from these “Late Riser Adventures”:
- A glimpse into the eclectic culture of Oporto, Portugal, including the elaborate Cathedral of Oporto – once a Gothic church, now an important Baroque structure, and the 19th-century Stock Exchange Palace, blending Arab and European influences, plus a visit to a port wine cellar for tasting among the oak casts and barrels.
- Taking in Amsterdam’s most notable sites from some of the 100 canals within the city, including the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum and countless gabled houses, merchants’ mansions and centuries-old carillon-crowned churches.
- Such famed Boston highlights as the Navy Yard, home to “Old Ironsides,” the world’s oldest commissioned naval ship afloat; Boston Common, America’s oldest public park; the Freedom Trail and the pre-Revolutionary Old State House.
Does starting your day later on vacation appeal to you, or do you prefer to fit in as much as you can in the way of activities and exploration when you travel?
