Cunard Fine Dining Showcased On Their 180th Anniversary

One might expect that after 180 years of experience, a cruise line would have at least some cruising aspects “down pat” to perfection.  This is surely true of the Cunard dining experience, representing exemplary cuisine and service as they celebrate their 180^th anniversary.

Hearkening back to the Second World War, the Verandah Grill restaurants on the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth vessels became the most coveted dining experiences on any Atlantic voyage.  In 1969, the Queen Elizabeth 2 entered service featuring yet a higher culinary standard – the Queens Grill.  So popular and appreciated was this highest-rated dining experience, that Cunard expanded its inclusion on the Queen Mary 2.

There are four primary dining areas on the Cunard vessels. Where you dine depends on your cabin designation.  Regardless of your choice of cabin, all of these dining options feature ornate settings, lamps and strategically placed art that contribute to the marvelous ambience of each dining venue.

Queens Grill

The Queens Grill has its own bar & terrace, available exclusively to passengers staying in the Queens Grill Suites. They offer a delectable a la carte menu that is provided in addition to their regular menu (Queens Grill regulars also know they can order specials at any time). The overall dining experience can only be described as sumptuous. May we share with you, this is one of the best restaurants in the entire world, based on personal experience.  Here is a sample menu

 Princess Grill

Those fortunate enough to book one of the Princess suites will experience deliciously creative menus, as well as an exceptional wine offering and the legendary service that Cunard is known for.  Dinner is served from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., whenever suits you best. Choose from dishes such as Goats Cheese Souffle or Yellow Fin Tuna Tartare to start, perhaps followed by Rack of Dartmoor Lamb or Pan Roasted Halibut, all rounded off with a delicious Chocolate Pecan Terrine. 

Britannia Club Restaurant

Those guests booked in a Britannia Club Balcony can dine in the exclusive Britannia Club Restaurant.  In addition to sumptuous cuisine, the restaurant features an art deco ambience.

Britannia Club guests will appreciate the more intimate surroundings of this stylish restaurant. 

Britannia Restaurant

This restaurant typically serves guests in the stateroom cabins.  As with Cunard’s other dining venues, the cuisine and ambience in the Britannia Restaurant is par excellence and will delight even the most discriminate cruiser.

The main restaurant invites you to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner with a real sense of occasion.  Dining is a highlight of each Cunard voyage and the grandeur of the Britannia Restaurant ensures it’s always memorable, especially on Gala evenings. Lastly, note that cruisers always have the option to expand their dining venue beyond the Queens Grill, Princess Grill and Britannia Restaurant choices.  The Verandah offers imaginative menus, while sections of the Lido and Kings Court feature formal Italian, Indian, Pan-Asian or Mexican delicacies.
