Few cruise lines can boast the depth and quality of their vessel lineup that characterize the Holland America Line (HAL) fleet. Even more impressive has been HAL’s ability to feature differing, unique signature amenities on each of their 15 ships. Here’s a recap of what you will experience – by ship – when you are fortunate enough to sail on these memorable vessels.
The Newest Holland America Lines Ship – The Nieuw Statendam
The Nieuw Statendam HAL’s newest vessel launched in December 2018. It is the second of HAL’s state-of-the-art, Pinnacle-class ships, featuring a design inspired by the fluid curves of musical instruments. Guests will savor her innovative specialty restaurants—from Sel de Mer to the Grand Dutch Cafe. Special amenities include the ability to participate in America’s Test Kitchen’s cooking classes and hands-on workshops, and to view the BBC Earth Experiences presentations on the vessel’s spectacular two-story World Stage.
Amsterdam – This elegant, mid-sized ship features a three-story atrium graced by a stunning astrolabe. The Eurodam – Holland America Line’s first Signature-class ship.
Eurodam – Holland America Line’s first Signature-class ship, Eurodam has recently received many exciting updates. Guests on this graceful ship will enjoy the full Music Walk experience, including Lincoln Center Stage, B.B. King’s Blues Club and Billboard Onboard. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a cooking class or hands-on workshop with America’s Test Kitchen, BBC Earth Experiences and a Digital Workshop Powered by Windows.

Koningsdam – The first of Holland America Line’s Pinnacle-class ships, Koningsdam combines 21st- century elegance and nautical tradition. Inspired by music, her design features fluid lines, light-filled spaces and innovative, new dining and entertainment venues—from the dazzling, two-story World Stage to the Music Walk, with Lincoln Center Stage, B.B. King’s Blues Club and Billboard Onboard.
Maasdam – Maasdam pays homage to the past, while embracing modern amenities. Guests can hone their skills with onboard cooking shows and hands-on workshops from America’s Test Kitchen, or explore our world with the BBC Earth Experiences. Maasdam’s spa is second to none, featuring a refreshing spa treatment at the Greenhouse Spa & Salon.
Nieuw Amsterdam – The Nieuw Amsterdam celebrates historic New York City, once called Nieuw Amsterdam, with its inspired design and an art collection valued at more than $3 million. While on board, you will enjoy cooking classes and hands-on workshops from America’s Test Kitchen. You will also be able to hone your video-editing skills at a Digital Workshop powered by Windows.
Noordam – Named for the Northern compass point, Noordam features museum-quality art—from 19th oils to contemporary photographs of music greats Dizzy Gillespie and B.B. King. Guests onboard can enjoy cooking shows and hands-on workshops in partnership with America’s Test Kitchen. Explore the world’s wonders through BBC Earth Experiences. Or, opt for relaxation and take yoga or Pilates in the Noordam’s world class Fitness Center.
Oosterdam – Holland America Line’s first Vista-class cruise ship, Oosterdam recently emerged from dry dock with exciting updates—including completely refreshed suites and new lounge, dining and entertainment venues, such as Music Walk with Lincoln Center Stage, and B.B. King’s Blues Club and Billboard Onboard. Guests can also hone culinary skills with America’s Test Kitchen and thrill to BBC Earth Experiences.
Prinsendam – Having occupied a special place in the hearts of Holland America Line guests for nearly 17 years of service, the intimate Prinsendam is leaving the fleet on July 1, 2019. With a capacity of just 835 guests, Prinsendam is intimate, comfortably spacious and small enough to explore destinations larger ships can’t reach. All her itineraries will continue as planned through July 1, 2019, and so there is still time to celebrate the amenities of this beloved ship. Don’t miss one of her upcoming farewell sailings and experience all of Prinsendam’s many pleasures for a final time.
Rotterdam – With her multi-million dollar art and antique collection, wide teak decks and classic lines, Rotterdam evokes nautical tradition while delivering state-of-the-art amenities. Volendam – Elegant and spacious, Volendam takes her décor cues from the garden. Another option: relax with a spa treatment at Volendam’s world class Greenhouse Salon & Spa.
Westerdam – Recently updated with new bar, entertainment and dining venues, plus completely reimagined suites, Westerdam is a fascinating destination in her own right. Zaandam – Designed to carry fewer guests while offering greater space, Zaandam is the epitome of elegance and comfort. Her décor is inspired by music and features musical instruments including signed guitars from Queen, Iggy Pop, Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones and a Baroque-style pipe organ.
