Silversea Launches Its Twelfth Vessel With a Whole Series of Firsts
For luxury cruise aficionados, Silversea Cruises is at the top of the list. Their exquisite ships ply the world’s oceans last year alone, visiting over 900 ports of call. “Silver Nova” boasts an innovative design that sets it apart from its predecessors. Unlike other ships in the fleet, “Silver Nova” features a horizontal layout, seamlessly connecting its public spaces from stem to stern. This design allows for an abundance of natural light to flood the ship. It’s truly amazing to travel between decks 3 and 11 with magnificent views of the ocean as your companion. The pool deck has seating for absolutely everyone on board and two-story views of the sea. The design also allows soaring interior spaces. The Venetian Lounge is a proper theater. And its OTIUM Spa has grand new quarters with spectacular sea views.
Yes, “Silver Nova” is Silversea’s largest ship. At 801 feet in length with a beam of 96 feet, the 54,700-ton ship carries just 728 passengers—a guest-to-space ratio of 75 GRT-per passenger. This makes “Silver Nova” one of the most spacious cruise ships ever built. By contrast, the world’s largest cruise ships have as few as 31 GRT’s per passenger and seldom exceed 45! And oh! what those 75 GRTs give you: Every single stateroom has a balcony. Every single passenger is assigned a butler. And every guest has a choice of no fewer than 9 restaurants, 10 if you include 24-hour room service.
The Biggest Change Aboard “Silver Nova” is one that you won’t see.
“Silver Nova” is the first luxury cruise ship to be powered by LNG fuel, which reduces carbon emissions by 40 percent compared to her predecessors “Silver Moon” and “Silver Dawn”.

To celebrate the launch of “Silver Nova”, the ship set sail from Fusina (Venice). Silversea invited both members of the International Travel Press and Silversea’s Travel Partners from around the world. Many attendees traveled from places as far away as Singapore and Australia to witness the unveiling of this magnificent ship.
“Silver Nova” Introduces New Suite Categories
“Silver Nova” has 13 suite categories. Even Silversea favorites, its Classic, Superior, Deluxe and Premium Veranda suites are re-imagined with floor-to-ceiling windows leading to their balconies—and every single suite has one. We loved the reimagined “Silver Suites”. Their new layout gives guests views of the sea from both living room and bedroom. And the spacious living room has been redesigned to include the dining area. Perfect for entertaining, Silver Suites aboard “Silver Nova” have a bathroom with a designated guest powder room.

Two of the most innovative suites on “Silver Nova” are the Signature Suite and the OTIUM Suite. The Signature Suite offers 700 sq. ft. of living space, including a living, dining, and sleeping area, as well as a large balcony with sweeping views. The luxurious bathroom even provides an ocean view. The OTIUM Suite, inspired by Silversea’s wellness program, is the most spacious suite on board, measuring 1324 sq. ft. It features floor-to-ceiling windows in all living areas and a private whirlpool bath on the balcony.
Silversea’s ground-breaking SEA AND LAND TASTES (S.A.L.T.) program has been expanded on “Silver Nova”.
S.A.L.T. Kitchen, the program’s culinary hub, now accommodates more diners than ever before. As aboard “Silver Dawn” and “Silver Moon”, the menu at S.A.L.T. Kitchen highlight the regional cuisine of every region “Silver Nova’s visits. Even more locavore are specialties of the individual ports on her itineraries. The complementary wine list has also been expanded to feature the best local vintages and specialty wines. And new on “Silver Nova” are Vegan and Vegetarian dishes that are not an afterthought.
S.A.L.T. Bar has moved to a larger space, offering more seating and in keeping with light-filled “Silver Nova”, the new location offers views of the sea from every seat. S.A.L.T. Bar’s focus on imaginative cocktails now includes extensive nonalcoholic choices.
S.A.L.T. Lab, S.A.L.T.’s hands-on Culinary School, has been expanded and now accommodates 22 participants. But what is particularly stunning is that the Lab is now a light-filled space with floor-to-ceiling windows. S.A.L.T. transforms into S.A.L.T. The Chef’s Table at night, offering an intimate course by course dining experience for just 22 guests.
S.A.L.T. Experiences are offered at virtually every port of call. These culinary excursions have been discovered by the exceptional team of Culinary authorities, S.A.L.T.’s Director Adam Sachs put together. Expect food-centered lectures and talks aboard every sailing of “Silver Nova.”
